Severin Punished.

When Severin had asked me what he should do if there was a
conflict between his service to Kate and his service to me, I
had been evasive, not seeing what kind of conflict could
possibly occur.

I had told him, logically enough, that I couldn't set up any
rule since every situation is different, and he would have to
use his better judgment. But an incident did eventually happen
that showed that unexpected disruptions in our apparently smooth
arrangement could indeed occur.

Calm Before the Storm.

In retrospect it is clear that I was over-optimistic when I
thought (wishful thinking, really) that Kate's appearance in our
life would not create any serious problems.

Still, the first few weeks seemed to support me. Both Kate and
severin seemed to be comfortable in their respective "roles" (if
that's the word) - Kate very cool as usual, Severin going out of
his way to be the perfect servant.

Kate Moves In

The dinner with Kate at my house - a romantic, candlelit affair
for just the two of us - was quite a success. Severin had
prepared a wonderful meal, which he served with exemplary
finesse. Kate was impressed by his efficient, self-effacing
style, and even complimented him for his cooking at the end of
the meal.

I remember he blushed with pleasure, bowed and said: "Thank you,
Ms Kate" and promptly retired to his kitchen.

Thank you for writing the story of your meeting with Kate.
(Michele, Kate and severin). It must have taken a good deal of
time and work to write it up.

Yes, of course you're right that autobiographies do inevitably
have an element of fiction to them, being entirely from one
person's point of view. Still, it's interesting to read that
point of view, especially in light of the fact that I do
remember some DOMestic posts you made at the time you were
beginning your love affair with Kate, and worrying whether you
were going to wreck severin's life in the process.

Introduction.

This is autobiographical - not fiction, not a "story" - although
I never forget what one writer said:-

"Everything we write is in some way autobiographical, except
autobiographies, which are fiction."
